Faye Wills

Olympic Skeet Shooter
Brand Ambassador

United Kingdom

I picked up a shotgun for the first time in 2011, when I got my first part-time job at Greenfields Shooting Ground near Canterbury. I spent the following 6.5 years shooting 2 of the approximately 15 shooting disciplines – English Sporting and English Skeet

I regularly won the Ladies high gun at my local English Sporting ground, often equaling the scores from classes B, A and AA (I shot my personal best, 64/70 in 2015, equaling the AA High Gun). I have shot at a variety of high-profile events, including representing my county four times at regional South East Inter-Counties events, and once at a National Inter-Counties Competition

After attending a Talent Identification Day in October 2016, I was invited to join the British Shooting Talent Programme to train for Olympic Skeet, which I started in April 2017. I still participate in charity English Sporting shoots, but I am now focusing on Olympic Skeet as my competitive discipline.

Other Interests

Besides being dedicated to my training and inspiring other women to get involved, I have a variety of other commitments and interests. During the game season, I beat and load, which helps keep me fit and healthy too. I work with people who have working dogs, which I absolutely adore! I enjoy being in the gym to develop my strength, particularly my upper body for consistent gun mount. I am also now a member of the Ladies Shooting Club and will start attending the Shotgun and Chelsea Bun Club events local to me this year to meet other women who are starting or continuing their shooting journeys.

I have a Bachelors with Honours in History and Archaeology, and a Masters in Archaeology of Egypt and the Near East; this is my joint top passion with shooting! Some of my most recent job roles have all been within this sector – I am currently working for the National Trust – and I was even lucky enough to spend a week in 2016 working on the Oplontis Villa B project in Pompeii.

Finally, I am a supporter of community and charity groups. I am an assistant section leader with my local Beaver Scout Group – this year I will receive my five years’ service award! I have done three charity clay shoots in the last three years, variously benefitting the National Gamekeepers Organisation, Bowel Cancer UK and the Honeypot Children’s Charity. This year, I hope to do a walk along Hadrian’s Wall – connecting with my archaeological background – which is organised by the British Heart Foundation, and a sponsored abseil down the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth with my dad, with all proceeds being split equally between two charities of our choice.
