450/400 William Moore & Grey express rifle

A very rare William Moore & Grey express rifle, serial number 5603, in the emblematic calibre .450/400 Nitro Express. This is one of only five express rifles of this kind ever built by William Moore & Grey. This high-quality express rifle was made for hunts in Africa and India with the most popular calibre at that time, an all-round calibre used before .375 H&H guns were introduced. The gun has a dark French walnut stock with a carved cheek-pad and a true Prince of Wales pistol grip and steel cap. Anson & Deeley boxlock system with doll’s head. Fine acanthus engraving. This express rifle is in very good condition and an exceptional proof of William Moore & Grey’s craftmanship. Engraving on the barrels “Willliam Moore & Grey, Craven Street, London”. Part of the William Moore & Grey Collection.
